Mauro Goncalves Filho to Collaborate with SoftBank Corp.’s Research Institute of Advanced Technology in Leading AI-RAN Efforts in the US

SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”) is pleased to announce that Mauro Goncalves Filho, former Senior Director at Google X and Chief Strategy Officer at Loon, joined SoftBank’s wholly owned subsidiary SB Telecom America Corp. on February 1, 2025 as Director.
Mauro will be working closely with SoftBank’s Research Institute of Advanced Technology in leading efforts in the US to help drive the widespread adoption of AI-RAN technology.

Mauro has over 25 years of experience in corporate innovation, go-to-market strategy and operations as an executive, advisor and investor in the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) sector. Prior to joining SB Telecom America, Mauro was the Senior Director at Google X and Chief Strategy Officer at Loon, an Alphabet Other Bet. Previously, Mauro also held management positions in Telefonica Vivo and Gradus Consultants in Latin America. Mauro also currently serves on the Boards of Altave (computer vision) and Onovolab (innovation ecosystem) and is a start-up mentor at The Alchemist Accelerator and a Venture Partner at Niu Ventures.

Mauro will be joining forces with SoftBank’s Research Institute of Advanced Technology on initiatives to rethink how computing infrastructure can be designed and deployed across mobile networks with AI. He will be spearheading AI-RAN efforts in the US by collaborating with partners and the AI-RAN Alliance to commercialize innovations and help move the ecosystem in the creation of social infrastructure for the AI era.
