Since 2022, SoftBank Research Institute of Advanced Technology has been collaborating with Daito Manabe and the Yoshihiro Ikeuchi Laboratory at the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, on research into the Brain Processing Unit (BPU)—a biological processor made from brain organoids.
