About

With the relentless digitization of industry, we are seeing the emergence of a society where everything is connected through networks. Networks have become indispensable in moving the society forward, and their importance is increasing day by day. 6G, the next generation of 5G, requires not only ultra-high speed, large capacity, ultra-low latency, and massive device connectivity, but also fault tolerance, high security that can withstand quantum computers, and autonomous controllability that dynamically optimizes depending on the environment. In response to these trends, the Research Institute of Advanced Technology is promoting the research and development of terahertz waves and optical wireless technologies with the aim of achieving even-faster communication speeds, as well as virtualization technology that simultaneously achieves robustness, scalability, and advanced functionality. Through these efforts, we aim to realize faster, safer, and more efficient networks that can fully support the digitalization of industry.

Vision

The technology and infrastructure advancements of 6G are expected to bring about a society advanced in various aspects, such as a more comfortable and safer life, industrial advancement, and environmental conservation. They have the potential to significantly change society and people's lives. For example, with the spread of high-speed large-capacity, low-latency, and high-security networks, it is expected that online communication, such as remote work and information gathering, will become smoother and safer, leading to an increase in opportunities for learning and research. The industrial sector is also expected to undergo major changes with the continued penetration of digitalization. The widespread adoption of technologies such as automation and artificial intelligence is expected to improve productivity and reduce costs, while at the same time reducing energy consumption and the environmental impact.
