Rajeev Koodli

    Dr. Rajeev Koodli is a distinguished global technology leader with over two decades of pioneering work in mobile communications, Internetworking and distributed cloud computing. With his vast expertise in leadership, strategy, architecture, product development, research and innovation, Dr. Koodli has influenced the telecommunications and technology sectors through his transformative contributions to 4G/5G systems, hyperscale cloud infrastructure, IPv6 networking, and AI. His innovations have had significant impact on global mobile networking standards and his technical leadership has contributed to reshaping the industry. He is currently a Principal Fellow at SoftBank Corp.’s Research Institute of Advanced Technology and SVP of AI Infrastructure & Large Telecom Models at SB Telecom America, a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp.
  • Intel Fellow
    Led infrastructure strategies for edge AI transformation, incubating solutions like a cloud-based fleet management platform and LLM- powered network operations automation. Directed teams developing AI and ML-driven closed-loop automation, enhancing efficiency and scalability for distributed enterprise networks.
  • Google Lead Architect
    Led the development and adoption of of hyperscale cloud technologies into telecom, satellite and high-altitude platform networks, successfully taking the project from inception to large-scale deployments. The project went to production at Airtel, Starlink, Loon, Google Fi. The project paved the way for Google Distributed Edge Cloud business. Loon served as the sole communication means for the people of Peru and Puerto Rico during natural disasters and generated several innovations.
  • Principal Architect at Starent Networks and at Cisco, via acquisition
    Played a pivotal role in leading the startup Starent Networks as a major player in 4G (e.g., as a Principal Author of Verizon’s architecture for nationwide launch of new 4G network), culminating in its $2.9 billion acquisition by Cisco and achieving a peak market share of 40%, deployed globally over 100 Tier 1 operators.
  • Global Standards and Innovation
    Founding Member of Technical Steering Committee of AI-RAN Alliance, served on Board of Directors as a SoftBank Corp reserve delegate. Chaired Internet standard body (IETF and IRTF) working groups, shaping the mobility standards that underpin the Internet’s IPv6 expansion. Authored 17 Internet standards (IETF RFCs) and contributed over 100 submissions to mobile standards body (3GPP), advancing international standards like IPv6 and 4G/5G mobility (GTPv2) protocols.
