SoftBank Corp. and Nokia to Enable Execution of External AI Workloads on AI-RAN

SoftBank Corp. has expanded the functionality of the AITRAS Orchestrator, part of its AI-RAN product lineup, in collaboration with Nokia.

With this enhancement, the AITRAS Orchestrator can now interoperate with Nokia Bell Labs’s AI platform, Nokia AI-RAN External Compute Engine, which brokers and manages computing resources provided by multiple operators.

This integration makes it possible to support external AI workloads by enabling access to computing resources within an AI-RAN environment.

As a result, AITRAS—which enables the integrated operation of AI and virtualized Radio Access Networks (vRAN) on a unified virtualization platform—can now flexibly allocate computing resources in response to the AI processing demands of external customers.

This capability will contribute to the creation of new revenue opportunities through a more efficient utilization of communications infrastructure.
