WeWork Japan to Open New Location in “Akasaka Green Cross,” a Next-generation Office Building in Tokyo

On April 1, 2024, WeWork Japan, a leading flexible office provider in Japan, began anew as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434). WeWork Japan (registered under the WWJ Corp. company name) has since continued to focus on serving its members by developing new services and products, and by expanding its network.

On September 19, WeWork Japan announced that in February 2025 it will open a new location inside Akasaka Green Cross, a next-generation building completed in May 2024 that was designed to incorporate lush vegetation and foster community connections. WeWork Japan’s new location, called “WeWork Akasaka Green Cross,” will be situated on the 5th and 6th floors of Akasaka Green Cross.

Akasaka Green Cross was jointly developed by Sekisui House, Ltd. and Nippon Life Insurance Company as a next-generation high-rise office building. SoftBank, which operates Akasaka Green Cross’ communication network infrastructure, is aiming to transform the building into an “Autonomous Building” – a smart building that continues to evolve through the utilization of data. At the new location, WeWork Japan will strive to provide its members with an optimal office environment suited to modern workstyles, and accelerate office digital transformation (DX) with state-of-the-art building facilities, and by utilizing IoT and generative AI.

The Akasaka area is known as a high-end business district where government agencies and global companies gather. The area also has an artistic dimension, and is highly popular among media and entertainment companies, making it a vibrant hub of creativity.

Keeping with this local atmosphere, the interior design will feature calming colors and luxurious furnishings to create a refined workspace. In addition to enhancing concentration and productivity, the workspace floors have been designed to incorporate a touch of uniqueness, including strategically placed original artwork inspired by the Akasaka area.
