SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434)’s “CHIE-4” AI computing platform—based on an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with NVIDIA DGX B200 systems exceeding 4,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs—was ranked No. 1 in Japan (No. 5 worldwide) in the HPL-MxP benchmark that measures AI computing performance. The ranking was announced at SC25—the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis—held in St. Louis from November 16 to 21, 2025.
SoftBank’s AI computing platform was highly ranked by other benchmarks as well. CHIE-4 ranked 3rd in Japan (17th worldwide) in the TOP500 benchmark, which measures supercomputer computational performance, and 2nd in Japan (6th worldwide) in the HPCG benchmark that evaluates processing performance for practical scientific and technical computing.
The results signify that CHIE-4, as one of Japan’s leading supercomputers, is an outstanding platform for developing large language models (LLMs) and providing environments for advanced reasoning.
By leveraging highly evaluated platforms like CHIE-4, SoftBank is working to make AI computing accessible to a wide range of developers, including those in enterprises and research institutions. With social infrastructure initiatives like these, SoftBank is also aiming to enhance research and development efficiency, foster the creation of new AI services, and strengthen Japan’s AI development environment and global competitiveness.
