SoftBank’s network vision for building a communications infrastructure that keeps people and things connected anytime, anywhere

Taking on the challenge of realizing a world where everyone and everything stays connected

“UTX (Ubiquitous Transformation)” stands for SoftBank Corp.’s (TOKYO: 9434) vision to build a communications infrastructure that enables seamless connectivity anytime and anywhere. By integrating terrestrial networks (TN) with non-terrestrial networks (NTN)—such as Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) communication satellites and stratosphere-based High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) vehicles—SoftBank is working to realize a world where connectivity is truly ubiquitous.

When this vision becomes a reality, it will be possible to restore communications quickly when disasters strike, and areas that have traditionally been hard to reach—such as mountainous regions and remote islands—will get reliable network coverage. UTX will also help provide better access to online education, remote healthcare and other essential services. UTX is also expected to accelerate the development of drone deliveries, autonomous driving, smart agriculture and smart construction.

By advancing UTX to drive innovation for people and businesses around the world, SoftBank is aiming to establish a resilient and sustainable communications foundation to help solve social issues and create new value.
