SoftBank Corp. Unveils New Uniforms for Crew at ‘SoftBank’ and ‘Y!mobile’ Stores

SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434) unveiled new uniforms to be worn by crew at ‘SoftBank’ and ‘Y!mobile’ stores providing communication services. The new uniforms, which will be used across Japan from January 2025, were designed to embody warmth and approachability while conveying sincerity and professionalism. To promote a sense of unity while serving customers with diverse needs and values, ‘SoftBank’ and ‘Y!mobile’ stores will both use the same uniform.

The new uniforms incorporated the feedback of employees who will actually wear them. A survey was first conducted among crew members, and a uniform production committee was established with crew representatives. Workshops were then held in various locations across Japan to gather requests regarding functionality, and the uniform design also reflected feedback from on-the-job trials to test for comfort.

The current uniforms (displayed below) have been worn by crew since June 2018. Unlike the uniforms being worn now, with the new uniforms female crew will have the option of wearing pants or skirts.

The new uniforms were designed by Yoshihide Oka, a designer who has worked on more than 300 company uniforms over the past 25 years.

Crew in Okinawa Prefecture will wear different uniforms based on “kariyushi wear” – a style of dress originating from the prefecture that resembles aloha shirts – starting May 2025.
