SoftBank Corp. Deploys its “AITRAS” AI-RAN Solution at NVIDIA Headquarters, Demonstrates “Porter Robot”

In March 2025, SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434) announced it deployed its converged AI-RAN solution, called AITRAS, at NVIDIA headquarters in Santa Clara, California. In this collaboration, SoftBank and NVIDIA are utilizing NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platforms to build next-generation data centers for AI-powered wireless 5G/6G networks, with the goal of introducing GPU-based solutions in the telecommunications sector.

The deployment at NVIDIA's headquarters marks the first implementation of AITRAS outside Japan, demonstrating the potential of SoftBank's technology to the global market. Both companies will work to develop mobile edge AI applications and collaborate with partners to drive adoption.

As a first step toward building an edge AI applications ecosystem, SoftBank, in collaboration with NVIDIA, developed and demonstrated a “porter robot.” Using a Large Language Model (LLM) running on AITRAS, the robot carried luggage with flexibility and stability, following visitors based on verbal instructions about their clothes. In a low-latency environment, the porter robot demonstrated better following capabilities compared to robots controlled in a conventional manner.
