One the major strengths of SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434) is its unparalleled number of customer touchpoints. This customer foundation spans SoftBank's mobile and broadband subscribers (55 million), and the users of platforms provided by group companies Yahoo Japan (80 million), PayPay (41 million) and LINE (88 million)*. This base enables to SoftBank to propose and offer compelling Business-to-Business-to-Consumer (B2B2C) solutions to enterprise customers.
One example is SoftBank's collaboration with SEVEN-ELEVEN JAPAN CO., LTD. The convenience store operator was looking for ways to increase customer visits and usage of its official smartphone app. The companies decided to integrate the PayPay mobile payment app into SEVEN-ELEVEN JAPAN's own app.
After PayPay directly integrated its technology into the SEVEN-ELEVEN JAPAN app, customers could link their PayPay accounts to the SEVEN-ELEVEN JAPAN app to use PayPay for purchasing items and receiving coupons, rebates and information on new products and deals within the SEVEN-ELEVEN JAPAN app. The collaborative app was launched in late February 2021, and after launching full-fledged promotions, the app registered 3.5 million new users in the space of just one month. As of August 19, 2021, registered users numbered 6.5 million.
SEVEN-ELEVEN JAPAN continues to conduct campaigns and promotions using the collaborative app, including a contest for cash back prizes that is running from August 1 to September 12, 2021.
SoftBank will continue to utilize its vast number of customer touchpoints to help enterprises expand their businesses. Some other use cases can be viewed in SoftBank's Enterprise Business Briefing presentation that took place on June 1, 2021.
