SoftBank Corp. (SoftBank) announced that, in collaboration with Oracle Corporation (Oracle) and SB Intuitions Corp. (SB Intuitions), it will begin the sequential rollout of generative AI services utilizing "Sarashina" - a homegrown large language model (LLM) developed by SB Intuitions - on its "Cloud PF Type A" (Cloud Platform Type A) service, powered by Oracle Alloy, starting from June 2026. Cloud PF Type A launched in SoftBank data centers in Eastern Japan in April 2026 and is scheduled to become available in Western Japan data centers from October 2026.

Cloud PF Type A is a cloud infrastructure deployed and managed by SoftBank at its Japan-based data centers using Oracle Alloy, a complete cloud infrastructure platform that enables Oracle partners to become cloud service providers. SoftBank can deliver more than 200 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI and cloud services while maintaining control over data and operations.

Sarashina, developed by SoftBank subsidiary SB Intuitions, is a homegrown LLM characterized by high Japanese language processing capabilities and a deep understanding of Japan-specific culture and customs. Integrated into Cloud PF Type A, customers can combine high-precision generative AI services with their sensitive data within an environment that ensures data sovereignty. The services will offer a wide range of features to improve business efficiency, including text proofreading, automated report generation, programming assistance integrated with internal knowledge bases, agents capable of natural human dialogue, and the construction of multi-agent systems where multiple AIs collaborate to solve problems.

In addition, SoftBank will leverage OCI's AI capabilities, including OCI Enterprise AI and OCI AI infrastructure to support the development and scaling of its AI services. By combining OCI's advanced AI capabilities with strong security, governance, and compliance controls, SoftBank is addressing the growing demand for data sovereignty among enterprises and public sector organizations in Japan.

Hironobu Tamba, Senior Vice President, SoftBank Corp., said:
"We are very pleased to launch generative AI services utilizing our homegrown LLM 'Sarashina' on 'Cloud PF Type A,' a cloud platform with data sovereignty, in collaboration with Oracle. There is a growing demand among enterprises and government organizations to leverage AI while handling highly confidential data. Cloud PF Type A provides a secure and governed environment where customers can utilize generative AI with confidence. SoftBank will continue to contribute to the advancement of AI utilization and the creation of new value through the provision of advanced AI infrastructure."

Shinji Taketsume, senior vice president and executive operating officer, cloud business unit, Oracle Japan, said:
"Building sovereign cloud environments with advanced AI and cloud capabilities is essential to supporting long-term resilience, security, and economic growth in a digital world. With Oracle Alloy, which leverages Oracle's high-density, energy-efficient data center technologies to deliver the full OCI portfolio within a sovereign environment, we are helping SoftBank accelerate its cloud and AI strategy."
