SoftBank Corp. selected as a constituent for the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, a leading Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) index that has been adopted as a benchmark by Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)—the world's largest public pension fund—for passive ESG investing.

SoftBank received a “Silver” rating in the 2020 Sustainability Survey held by EcoVadis.
The results of our efforts were highly evaluated in four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable material procurement.

SoftBank Corp. announced that the goals detailed in its Carbon Neutral 2030 Declaration to achieve virtually zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 were certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (“SBTi”), a body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets.

SoftBank Corp. was ranked the global No. 1 for Voice App Experience by UK-based mobile network analytics firm Opensignal. In its Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2020 announced in September, the firm also ranked SoftBank third globally in Video Experience.
Opensignal collects billions of measurements daily from more than 100 million smartphones worldwide. For its Global Network Experience Awards 2020 Report, it analysed the mobile network experience of 181 mobile network operators around the world and comprehensively evaluated them by comparing five criteria.

Based on the Act to Advance Measures to Support Next-Generation Child-Rearing, SoftBank achieved the targets established in the Plan of Action for General Employers, became certified by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as “a company which supports child care” and received the “Kurumin next-generation certification mark” in June 2011. Furthermore, in February 2017 SoftBank received the “Platinum Kurumin special certification mark,” which is granted to companies that implement the initiatives to a high degree, in recognition of the company's efforts thus far to promote the introduction and use of systems which support the balance between work and child-rearing.

SoftBank has received the “Eruboshi” designation (class 2) from the Minister for Health, Labor and Welfare in recognition of being a company that excels in the empowerment of women. Going forward, we will maintain efforts to promote the success of women, such as holding career training for female employees and implementing mentoring programs.

SoftBank was awarded the highest “Gold” rating in the PRIDE index for policies regarding LGBTQ and other sexual minorities within the Company for the fourth straight year since 2017.
The “PRIDE Index” commends companies for excellence in LGBTQ initiatives. It was established by the private organization “work with Pride” aimed at the broad recognition of concrete measures for the creation of workplaces where LGBTQ and other sexual minorities can work comfortably.

The Nikkei Smart Work Survey, a study conducted by Nikkei Inc., gave SoftBank a five star rating, the highest possible rating. The Japan-based survey ranks all listed companies and companies with over 100 employees based on four aspects: Human Resources, Achieve Innovation, Market Development and Management Fundamentals. A company's strength is comprehensively evaluated based on points drawn from these four survey categories.

Additionally, we received the Technology Utilization Award for selecting new graduates by using AI (artificial intelligence), in creating diverse and flexible work styles by incorporation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) software and the development of technology such as the cashless payment service “PayPay”.

SoftBank signed the “United Nations Global Compact” global framework for the realization of sustainable growth in May 2020. As a signatory company, SoftBank shall carry out responsible business activities in accordance with the “Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact” while also taking action directed at the social goals of the SDGs to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.
