1984 - 1990

Oct. 1984 The former JAPAN TELECOM founded.
July 1986 ITJ established.
Aug. 1986 Launched leased circuit services.
Dec. 1986 RAILWAY TELECOMMUNICATION established.
Sept. 1987 Launched long-distance telephone services.
Apr. 1989 ITJ launched international leased circuit services.
May 1989 Merged with the former RAILWAY TELECOMMUNICATION.
Merged entity takes JAPAN TELECOM company name.
Oct. 1989 ITJ launched international telephone services.

1991 - 2000

Nov. 1992 Completed nationwide digital network.
Sept. 1994 Listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
Sept. 1996 Listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
Apr. 1997 Launched ISP service, ODN.
Oct. 1997 Merged with ITJ.
Dec. 1998 Announced its next-generation network project, PRISM.
Apr. 2000 Launched world's first IP-VPN service, SOLTERIA.

2001 - 2010

May 2001 Launched local telephone services.
Aug. 2002 Company name was changed to JAPAN TELECOM HOLDINGS, making it a pure holding company.
The fixed-line telecommunications business was separated and JAPAN TELECOM was newly established.
July 2004 Joined the SoftBank Group.
Dec. 2004 Launched new fixed telephone service Otoku Line.
Apr. 2005 Telecom Service merged with JENS.
July. 2005 Merged with JAPAN TELECOM IDC.
Dec. 2005 Announced its next-generation ICT platform Service design, IRIS.
Feb. 2006 Launched ICT platform Service, ULTINA On Demand Platform Keyplat.
Apr. 2006 Merged with JAPAN TELECOM Network Information Services CO., LTD.
JAPAN TELECOM Network Systems CO., LTD established through joint capital investment with NETMARKS INC..
Oct. 2006 Company name changed to SoftBank Telecom Corp.
Feb. 2007 Merged with SOFTBANK TELECOM SALES Corp.
July 2007 Established JAPAN TELECOM INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, a local company incorporated in New Delhi, India.
Nov. 2007 Opened Guangzhou Office, SoftBank Telecom Corp., in China.
June 2008 Together with SoftBank Mobile Corp., jointly launched White Line 24, an FMC service for corporate users.
Mar. 2009 Launched BB Mobile Point, a public wireless LAN service in trains of the Tokaido Shinkansen.
Together with SoftBank Mobile Corp., launched White Office, an FMC service for corporate users.
Apr. 2009 SoftBank Mobile Corp., SoftBank BB Corp., and SoftBank Telecom Corp., unified their service brand logo.
Feb. 2010 Launched cloud service, White Cloud.
Launched Hot Denpo, telegram service of the SoftBank Group.
Dec. 2010 Announced to launch White Line 24(OTOKU Line W), a free voice call service to WILLCOM.

2011 - 2014

Feb. 2011 Launched Google Apps™ for Business™.
Formed partnership with VMware K.K. on hybrid cloud business for enterprise.
Mar. 2011 Formed partnership with GE Healthcare Japan Corporation on medical IT business.
Launched the public wireless LAN service BB Mobile Point at 15 stations of JR Kyushu including Shinkansen bullet train stations.
May 2011 Announced the establishment of joint venture with KT Corporation on data center business.
Mar. 2012 Established a joint venture, SBTM ONLINE (SUZHOU) CO., LTD in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.
Oct. 2012 Launched Effective Customer-Leads Platform for O2O service jointly with Yahoo Japan Corporation.
Mar. 2013 Tie-ups started to provide new ICT services jointly with AEON Group and Yahoo Japan Corporation.
June 2013 Launched Yahoo! BB hikari with FLET'S and Yahoo! BB hikari FLET'S Course IP phone service, White hikari Phone, jointly with SoftBank BB Corp.
Apr. 2014 Entered strategic partnership with GE Software to promote Industrial Internet software platform for M2M.
July 2014 Together with SB Power Corp., jointly began power retail business for corporate customers.
Nov. 2014 Started providing VMware vCloud® Air™, a hybrid cloud service with VMware.
