Discontinuation of 2G Service

TOKYO, July 3, 2008 --- SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. (hereafter ‘SBM’) announced that it will discontinue its 2G (PDC) service on March 31, 2010.

SBM has been offering its 2G service since April 1994, and launched its 3G (W-CDMA) service in December 2002. The 3G service has been well received by many customers as a result of continuous efforts to realize convenient and high value-added services such as ‘Yahoo! Keitai’ (Internet portal site), ‘Global Roaming Service’ and ‘3G High Speed’ (high speed Internet access service). Based on the current circumstances, SBM has decided to further promote migration to the 3G service, which has richer services with the advantage of high capacity and high speed communication, and put more effort into improving customer satisfaction by focusing management resources on the 3G service.

SBM will inform current 2G subscribers about the 2G service discontinuation and migration to the 3G service. Details will be made available through direct mail and at any SoftBank shop.
