SOMPO Sustainability Index

SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”, TOKYO: 9434) today announced it was selected as a member of the SOMPO Sustainability Index, an index managed by SOMPO Asset Management Co., Ltd. (“SOMPO Asset Management”) and used for the company's “SOMPO Sustainable Management” investment product.
“SOMPO Sustainable Management” is an investment product for pension funds and institutional investors that invests in a wide range of companies with a strong reputation for environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESGs). SOMPO Asset Management manages long-term investments based on its own SOMPO Sustainability Index, which is composed of approximately 300 companies with outstanding ESG-related initiatives. This index is reviewed based on a yearly ESG assessment*. This is the first time that SoftBank's ESG-related initiatives were recognized and selected.
Based on its corporate philosophy “Information Revolution — Happiness for everyone”, SoftBank is taking initiatives to realize a sustainable society envisioned in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by leveraging technologies such as 5G, IoT, and AI to provide solutions for digital transformations in a variety of industries. In addition, SoftBank has identified the following 6 priority issues (“materiality”), and aims to grow its business group-wide by resolving these issues.
