SoftBank Corp. to Discontinue 3G Service
on April 15, 2024
In consideration of those affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, customers residing
in Ishikawa Prefecture can continue to use 3G service within the prefecture until July 31
March 13, 2024
SoftBank Corp.
As SoftBank Corp. previously announced in its press release dated January 17, 2024, it will discontinue its 3G services on April 15, 2024*1*2. However, in consideration of the difficulties some customers are facing when switching from 3G to 4G/5G services due to the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, SoftBank is postponing the discontinuation of its 3G service within Ishikawa Prefecture for customers residing there until July 31, 2024.

- *1Customers in any of the following categories will have their subscriptions automatically cancelled on April 16, 2024. (Excluding customers with contracts registered to addresses in Ishikawa Prefecture as of April 7, 2024.)
- Customers who subscribed to 3G price plans
- Contracts unable to use VoLTE services on price plans that support 4G/5G
- Customers using specific mobile handsets purchased from SoftBank that are only compatible with 3G services
- *2Regarding the final billing month for customers whose subscriptions will be automatically canceled on April 16: Customers with billing periods ending on the 10th of each month, the 20th of each month and the last day of the month will not be charged for mobile communication service fees from April 11, March 21, and April 1, respectively. Other items, such as device payment installments and SoftBank Consolidated Payment, will be charged.

- *3Customers whose contracts are registered to addresses are in Ishikawa Prefecture as of April 7, 2024, and in any of the following categories will have their subscriptions automatically cancelled on August 1, 2024.
- Customers who subscribed to 3G price plans
- Contracts unable to use VoLTE services on price plans that support 4G/5G
- Customers using specific mobile handsets purchased from SoftBank that are only compatible with 3G services
Note that for customers with contracts that will be automatically canceled as mentioned above, customers with billing periods ending on the 10th of each month, the 20th of each month and the last day of the month will not be charged for mobile communication service fees from April 11, March 21, and April 1, respectively. Other items, such as device payment installments and SoftBank Consolidated Payment, will be charged.
